It was ten years ago that USask’s College of Medicine was put on probation by the national accreditation committee because of a few education standards lacking around leadership, governance and funding shortcomings, but it was lifted in 2015. The College achieved full accreditation after a complete onsite review in 2017.
Now, in the January 2023 report from the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools, the College of Medicine has earned the satisfaction across 96 elements, which is up from 93 in 2020.
Dean of the College, Dr. Preston Smith, says these results are some of the strongest of any medical doctor program in the country.
