This past month, 130 traffic tickets and 211 traffic warnings were issued in the Warman area, along with four charges for driving impaired. The tickets were issued by the Warman and Martensville RCMP, and Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan from Maidstone, North Battleford, Rosetown, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
As one example, On January 5th, a 911 report advised the RCMP of a two-vehicle rear-end collision. Witnesses say the suspected driver was using a cell phone when the impact occurred, then got out and fled on foot. Shortly after arriving, RCMP officers found the driver, and report that there were signs of impairment, then when checking the vehicle, police say an open cup of alcohol was found inside. The driver was charged with impaired driving and was also ticketed for having open alcohol in a vehicle and using a phone while driving.
