Anthony Lanier II is staying with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The import defensive lineman will be returning to the Green and White on a one-year deal worth a, reported, guaranteed $250,000. The 29-year-old Lanier spent the last two seasons with the Riders. The Georgia product played 11 games in 2022, earning eight sacks, three of which came in Week 4 against Montreal. His signing comes a day after the Roughriders extended fellow defensive lineman Pete Robertson. In addition, Saskatchewan signed another import defensive lineman Monday in Christian Albright. LANIER II BACK FOR ANOTHER YEAR IN GREEN AND WHITE
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive lineman Anthony Lanier II to a one year contract extension.
Lanier II (6’6-285) remains in Riderville after bursting on the scene in his second season in Green and White. The Georgia native played 11 games in 2022 earning eight sacks – three of which came in a dominant performance Week 4 against Montreal. He also tallied 19 defensive tackles, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. His eight sacks and two forced fumbles ranked him sixth in the league in both categories. Lanier II played 10 games in his rookie season, registering 13 defensive tackles and one sack.
Prior to the Roughriders, he spent five seasons in the NFL, initially signing with the Washington Commanders in 2016. He went onto play 15 career games with Washington, making ten tackles, five sacks, five tackles for a loss, six passes defended, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. In 2018, Lanier II signed with the Los Angeles Chargers where he stayed for two seasons. The 29-year-old also spent portions of 2020 with the Kansas City Chiefs and the New Orleans Saints.
Collegiately, Lanier II played for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. As a senior in 2015, he made 29 tackles, six tackles for a loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, four quarterback hurries and one pass break-up over eight games. As a junior, he was second on the team in tackles with 54 while adding 18 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick. Lanier II was a two-sport athlete, also suiting up for the Bulldogs’ basketball team.

RIDERS SIGN DEFENSIVE LINEMAN CHRISTIAN ALBRIGHT
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive lineman Christian Albright.
Albright (6’2-240) signed with the Chicago Bears as undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft and spent training camp with the team.
The Georgia native played five collegiate seasons at Ball State University (2017-21). He started 48 of 57 games played, recording 260 tackles. The disruptive defender also added 34.5 tackles for loss (151 yards), 16.5 sacks, two interceptions, 13 pass knockdowns, nine forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. As he entered his senior year, Albright had tallied eight of his nine career forced fumbles and was tied for second nationally among active players. He earned Second-Team All-MAC Honours in 2020 and Third-Team All-MAC Honours in 2018.
