The home team improved on their current winning streak while preventing the visitors from extending theirs as the Kamloops Blazers scored three unanswered goals in the third period for a 5-2 triumph over the Saskatoon Blades Friday night.
Daylan Kuefler scored the winning goal scant seconds after coming on the ice following co-incidental minors. The marker snapped a 2-2 tie with 7:04 remaining in the third frame and the Bridge City Bunch weren’t able to respond in their first of five consecutive games in the B-C Division. Trevor Wong (pictured) and Aidan De La Gorgendiere scored in the first period to overcome an early Kamloops tally and give the Blue and Gold a lead they would hold until late in the second period. But, the 32-10-6 Blazers took over the territorial advantage, out-shooting the 33-13-4 Blades 30-20 in the final two periods and 37-27 overall. Kamloops has won five consecutive games while Saskatoon, who had a three-game winning run snapped, will attempt to get back to winning ways Saturday when they visit the Kelowna Rockets.
