The family of Crystal Paskemin has issued a statement saying,” We know this man is still a threat to all women, regardless of what province he lives in.”

Kenneth MacKay, who was convicted of First-Degree Murder in the death of the 21-year-old from the Sweetgrass First Nation, has been granted day parole from prison two years prior to the end of his 25-year life sentence. He appealed his conviction in 2005 and lost. MacKay’s day parole was granted in British Columbia.

Crystal was sexually assaulted and murdered on December 29th, 2000, on the outskirts of Saskatoon.

Crystal Paskemin’s family has established a non-profit in her honour. Since 2017 Crystal’s Gift has been collecting gently used household items for single mothers in need.
