RCMP say officers responded to three fatal overdoses involving suspected meth or fentanyl in the past week in southern Saskatchewan. The first was last Thursday when RCMP responded to home in Assiniboia about an unresponsive male. The 21-year-old was declared dead at the scene. Officers found crystals and an off-white powder.

Then on Monday, Moosomin RCMP responded to a hotel room in that community. EMS also responded but CPR was unsuccessful, and a 22-year-old man was declared deceased.  The same light-coloured powder was found at the scene.

On Tuesday, Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive woman found outside a home in Preeceville. A white power was found nearby. The 50-year-old was taken to the local hospital by EMS, where she was pronounced deceased.

Investigators says the drugs are believed to be meth or fentanyl being sold in a powder form. Autopsies and toxicology analyses will be performed by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

The RCMP urges those who take illicit drugs to never use alone, let someone know of your plans to use, always carry a Naloxone kit and call 911 if you suspect an overdose is occurring.
