The City of Saskatoon is giving ample notice to Saskatoon drivers about upcoming planned road construction.

On February 28 a nine-month long rehabilitation will begin on the Circle Drive North Bridge. The bridge is 40 years old and the idea behind starting work in February is to wrap up in this construction season instead of having the work last into a second construction season.

The project starts with a full closure of the westbound lanes. Two-way traffic will be accommodated in the eastbound lanes.

Todd Grabowski, Engineering Manager, Asset Preservation, says the Deck Testing Program identified the need for the rehabilitation of the Circle Drive North Bridge. The goal is to maximize the service life of the bridge and lower the overall capital costs that keep it in good order.

The pedestrian bridge underneath the Circle Drive North Bridge will not be impacted during the rehabilitation project. A section of Spadina Crescent underneath the bridge will close at some points during construction to accommodate scaffolding.
