A pair of C-F-L twins are being split up for the 2023 season.
One day after twin brother Jordan Herdman-Reed decided to return to the B-C Lions as a free agent, Justin Herdman-Reed made the decision to remain with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, signing with the Green and White today. It’ll be the 28-year-old’s third season with the Riders after notching two defensive tackles and 10 special teams tackles in 14 games last season. CANADIAN LINEBACKER JUSTIN HERDMAN-REED RETURNS TO RIDERS
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed National linebacker Justin Herdman-Reed.
Herdman-Reed (6’0-223) rejoins the Roughriders after spending the previous three seasons in Green and White. The 28-year-old is a strong contributor on special teams, where he made 10 tackles over 14 games. He also added two defensive tackles in 2022. Herdman-Reed played 13 games in 2021, tallying five defensive tackles and five special teams tackles.
Herdman-Reed was selected by the Toronto Argonauts in the seventh round (54th overall) of the 2017 CFL Draft. The 27-year-old played 40 games with the Argos registering 43 defensive tackles, 26 special teams tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles. He signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2020.
Collegiately, the Winnipeg native attended Simon Fraser University playing in 40 games over four seasons. He made 220 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries – one of which he returned for a touchdown.
