An artist whose paintings were stolen this week says they are of no value to your average thief so if they want to bring them back -no harm, no foul – they can leave them in the same vicinity as they were stolen.

North Battleford artist Aleksi Anseth, who is known as Aleksi Ann in the art world, says the situation is compounded by her having borrowed her sister’s vehicle, after she hit a deer with her own, and then the windows were smashed out of her sister’s car. The only thing taken was a tub with a little over 30 original acrylic and oil paintings, as well as a folder of some water colours and sketches.

Among those was an entire series she did in 2021 that she called Digital Road Trip where she did a painting every day in the month of February.  She had already sold some but kept 23 paintings from that body of work.

Aleksi Ann says she was going to use them in an exhibition this fall with some of her already completed work and work she intended to execute through the year.  The exhibition is going to be at the Chapel Gallery in North Battleford.

The paintings were stolen sometime between Wednesday evening and early morning Thursday from a parked car on 104th Street, North Battleford. Anyone with information is asked to contact North Battleford RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
