Gasbuddy.com says the outlook remains bright for diesel fuel with prices continuing to fall.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, says in the next couple of weeks diesel will flip to “deflationary” compared to a year ago and he says that is excellent news for the economy.

The economy is of course impacted by the cost of delivering goods and according to the Saskatchewan Trucking Association, Saskatchewan’s export-heavy economy relies on truck transport which relies on diesel. In our landlocked province, trucking makes our imports and exports possible and employs approximately 5% of Saskatchewan’s population with an estimated 22,000 people directly employed in transportation and warehousing.

Average retail gasoline prices in Saskatoon have fallen 0.4 c/L in the past week, averaging 146.64 c/L Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 81 gas outlets in Saskatoon. Including the change in gas prices in Saskatoon during the past week, prices yesterday were 0.5 c/L lower than the same day one year ago.
