With the 47th annual TeleMiracle coming up this weekend, the Kinsmen Foundation has pledged $1 million to invest in new health care equipment. Chair of the Foundation, Rob Bateman, says they are able to do this because of the record-breaking total of more than $8-million raised last year. It’s in addition to the millions of dollars the Kinsmen Foundation grants throughout the year.

Bateman states that the goal is to help bring new equipment to Saskatchewan, so people don’t have to leave the province for care. Saskatchewan-based health care foundations and facilities can submit their applications to the Kinsmen Foundation until June 7th. The requests will be reviewed at the Foundation’s Board of Directors meeting on June 24th, and then recipients will be notified. Bateman hopes everyone will tune in and Ring Those Phones for the 47th annual TeleMiracle, to make it another big success.

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation is a past recipient of Kinsmen funding. CEO Lecina Hicke, lists some of the equipment where the Kinsmen Foundation helped out:
– the province’s first and only da Vinci Surgical Robot
– a digital electron microscope
– angel lifts and therapeutic baths for palliative care.
