Damage is estimated at $10,000 following a fire in the 400 Block of 9th Street East.

Three fire engines responded to the alarm at 10:16pm Friday. There was smoke coming from the back of the house due to a large amount of combustible material inside. It took crews about 25 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The house was vacant at the time. An unattended candle burning too close to combustible material in the living room caused the blaze.
