“Our fans have been terrific all season long and we’ve already seen a 30% increase in our average attendance from last season,” explained Saskatoon Blades director of business operations, Tyler Wawryk. “A major factor to that has been the play of our team on the ice having one of our best seasons in the past two decades.”

The Saskatoon Blades enter Wednesday night’s home contest against the visiting Red Deer Rebels with a 38-13-4-1 record and in second place in the Eastern Conference.

While sellout crowds aren’t a common occurrence in some of the Western Hockey League’s larger arenas, this season has seen several across the league when playing host to the visiting Regina Pats and generational talent, Connor Bedard.

“Connor is an incredible player that comes along once every generation,” stated Blades president and general manager, Colin Priestner. “As a league, we’re extremely fortunate Connor chose the WHL as his path because his star power has brought thousands of new fans to come see our product from across the country, and he’s been an outstanding ambassador for our game.”

Following the game on Sunday, March 19^th, the Blades will close out the 2022-23 regular season on Friday, March 24^th, also against the Regina Pats, which is close behind in tickets with over 11,500 already sold. The Blades are projecting both games to sellout. This would mark the first time in nearly seven years SaskTel Centre has hosted two sellout crowds in one week.
