If you noticed an increased police presence in the 100 block of Avenue P South on Wednesday it was a firearms investigation.
Members of Saskatoon’s Guns and Gangs Unit executed a search warrant after becoming aware of a man in unlawful possession of a gun.
Officers established a perimeter around an apartment building on that block and when the suspect was seen leaving the building he was arrested without incident.
An apartment in the building was searched and a sawed off .22 and ammunition were seized. Other people in the apartment were also arrested but on matters unrelated to the firearm investigation.
A 32-year-old Saskatoon man is facing several firearms related charges.
