In honour of this week’s International Women’s Day, Mitchinson Flight Centre in Saskatoon is hosting a “Girls Can Fly” day tomorrow (Saturday) at their facility.
They are located just southeast of the John G. Diefenbaker Airport in Hangar 8, on Thayer Avenue.
There will be free flights, weather permitting, and a chance to sit in flight simulators.
Mitchinson Flight Centre is the largest flight school in the province and one of the longest running in the country. Girls Can Fly is free to all girls aged 8 to 18 years.
Assistant Chief Flight Instructor Shawna Atkinson says women pilots make up less than 5 per cent of the industry.
