The Government of Saskatchewan says the new allotment for the municipal revenue sharing program for 2023-24 is $297 million dollars and the dollar amount going back to municipalities is record setting.
Premier Scott Moe made the announcement at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) convention today in Saskatoon. Moe says it is up $36 million from last year.
The previous record investment from the province was $278 million in 2020-21.
Provincial funding for Saskatchewan’s municipal revenue sharing program is based on three quarters of one point of the provincial sales tax revenue collected two years prior.
Municipalities have been calling for the government to stop charging PST on municipal construction projects.
