A two year long investigation into mortgage application fraud has led to two arrests by the Saskatoon Police Service Economic Crime Section. On March 1st of 2021, police were told about falsified documents submitted with several mortgage applications at a financial institution. Investigators say the documents were traced back to two realtors and eight mortgages in total having false documents at one financial institution.

Police then executed search warrants in the 200 block of Palliser Court, the 3400 block of McClocklin Road and the 1100 block of 8th Street East where more fraudulent documents connected to mortgage applications from several other financial institutions were seized.

On January 9th of this year, a 36 year old man turned himself in at Saskatoon Police Headquarters and he is charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000. Today (Wed), a 42 year old man was also arrested at Police Headquarters. He is facing 17 counts of fraud over $5,000.
