The Canadian Union of Public Employees wants the provincial government to include affordability measures in this Wednesday’s budget.

CUPE Saskatchewan president Judy Henley says last fall’s $500 affordability cheques have come on gone and workers are still looking for real-long term solutions that will put more money in their pockets. She suggests reducing utility costs, an increase in the minimum wage and investing in public services.

Henley adds the federal government’s recent claw back of $750,000 in healthcare funding should put an end to any future plans for what she calls “privatization schemes” that take valuable resources out of the public system.
