Wanuskewin Heritage Park will have a National Indigenous Artist-in-Residence program thanks to a donation of almost $676,000 from Olive and Greg Yuel. A news release from Wanuskewin says the contribution supports their bid to become Saskatchewan’s first UNESCO World Heritage site and it is a meaningful step in supporting Indigenous art and culture programming.

The program will bring emerging and established national and international Indigenous artists to Wanuskewin where they will mentor local artists and meet with the public. Curator of Wanuskewin Galleries, Olivia Kristoff, says community connection sets their galleries apart. “For Indigenous artists both locally and across the country, we strive to make sure art is accessible to everyone.” She says the Olivia and Greg Yuel Artist-in-Residence Program will be one-of-a-kind.
