The Saskatoon Police Service says officers were called to the 2500 block of 18th Street West around 5:30 yesterday evening after receiving information that a firearm had been discharged in the area. The suspect, a male, was seen leaving in a vehicle. A vehicle matching the description given to officers was located shortly after in the 500 block of Avenue W South. It was pulled over and all five people inside were taken into custody without incident.
Police say they seized a modified rifle and a spent ammunition casing. Two males ages 18 and 17, now face seven firearms related charges each, including; Recklessly Discharging a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Careless Use of Firearm and Breach of Conditions.
Police also seized a small amount of methamphetamine. One of the passengers, a 50-year-old woman, is charged with Possession of a controlled substance and had an outstanding warrant.
