Although the town is at a junction of two main highways, Wakaw is struggling with inadequate cell phone service.
Melissa Dieno, the Chief Administrative Officer with the RM of Fish Creek, spoke with Don Morgan, the minister responsible for SaskTel at the SARM convention in Saskatoon last week.
Dieno says the service they are receiving right now is terrible, even after the recent upgrades. She adds Wakaw is a central hub to several reservations as well as lake country, and residents are dependent on their cell phones.
Morgan replied that he will look into the issue and possibly upgrade the town’s cell service.
