The Regina Police Service is issuing a public advisory regarding a 40-year-old man considered to be a high risk to reoffend sexually and/or violently. Louis Ted Mercredi lives in the Heritage neighbourhood in Regina in a home that provides supervision and monitoring of his activities.
A news release from the Regina Police Service says Mercredi completed programming while in jail to address his risk factors, however he hasn’t made any progress in reducing his high risk to re-offend violently. At prior sentencing, he was designated as a Dangerous Offender and was given a Long-Term Supervision order for ten years.
The Police Service says this information is not to incite any for of vigilantism or other unreasonable conduct. It is instead is to raise community awareness of his presence so people can make informed choices about contact with Mercredi.
