A vehicle being pulled over for a minor traffic infraction led to five people appearing in court today facing a hockey sock full of charges.

North Battleford RCMP initiated the traffic stop on the Highway 16 Bypass in North Battleford. Five people were arrested and during a search of the vehicle RCMP allege they found two semi-automatic .22 calibre rifles, one being an assault-style rifle and the other being sawed-off, making the rifle prohibited to possess.

Five people were charged in relation to the incident.

Nineteen-year-old Trevor Auger of Edmonton, Alberta, 20-year-old Brook Swiftwolfe of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, 19-year-old Ayla Anderson of Edmonton, Alberta, 23-year-old Darcy Cattleman of Calgary, Alberta, and 24-year-old Earl Swiftwolfe of Moosomin First Nation, Saskatchewan were charged with:

• Unauthorized possession of a firearm with ammunition contrary to section 95(2) of the Criminal Code;
• Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle contrary to section 94(2) of the Criminal Code;
• Carrying a concealed weapon contrary to section 90(2) of the Criminal Code;
• Possess a weapon dangerous to the public contrary to section 88(2) of the Criminal Code;
• Unlawful storage of a firearm contrary to section 86(2) of the Criminal Code;

Auger was additionally charged with:

• Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 92(3)(b) of the Criminal Code;
• Fraudulent personation of an individual contrary to section 403 of the Criminal Code;
• Obstruct a police officer contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code;
• Fail to comply with conditions contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code x3;

Brook Swiftwolfe was additionally charged with:

• Unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 91(3) of the Criminal Code;
• Mischief under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code;
• Assaulting a police officer contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
• Resisting a police officer contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code x2;

Anderson was additionally charged with:

• Unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 91(3) of the Criminal Code;

Cattleman was additionally charged with:

• Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 92(3)(b) of the Criminal Code;
• Carrying a concealed weapon contrary to section 90(2) of the Criminal Code;
• Possession of a firearm while prohibited contrary to section 117.01(3) of the Criminal Code;

Earl Swiftwolfe was additionally charged with:

• Fraudulent personation of an individual contrary to section 403 of the Criminal Code;
• Mischief under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code;
• Uttering threats contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
• Unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 91(3) of the Criminal Code
