The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed former N-F-L cornerback Rashard Robinson.
The six-foot-two, 177-pound defensive back was originally selected by San Francisco in the fourth round of the 2016 N-F-L Draft. He has spent parts of seven seasons in the N-F-L with the 49ers, Jets, Dallas and Tampa Bay but has struggled to stay on the field due to injury and suspension. After being traded to the Jets partway through the 2017 campaign, Robinson was arrested for possessing marijuana-laced candy and suspended for the first four games of the 2018 season. He was released by the team the following off-season and subsequently suspended 10 games for violating the N-F-L’s substance abuse policy. He signed with the Cowboys during the 2020 season but was released by the team the following offseason after receiving a two-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs. He joined the Buccaneers after reinstatement and was eventually waived during 2022 training camp. The 27-year-old has played in 49 career regular-season N-F-L games and made 18 starts, registering 89 tackles, 15 pass breakups, two interceptions, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Collegiately, Robinson played two seasons at Louisiana State University. Following is the news release from the Riders…..
