The Prince Albert Police Service say they conducted a vehicle stop related to a stolen vehicle investigation at approximately 2:23 a.m. Saturday morning in the 1100 block of 13th Street West.

A 40-year-old man was taken into custody following an altercation that resulted in a Police officers deploying conducted energy weapons (CEW). The man went into medical distress and was taken to hospital by Parkland Ambulance where he remains in serious condition.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) was notified and are investigating the incident. Police continue to investigate in the area, however, there are no public safety concerns as a result of this incident.
