After responding to a disturbance call on Friday, police have charged a 21-year-old man with several firearms offences.
At 2:30 p.m. police were called to the intersection of Avenue P South and 20th Street West for the report of a fight in progress. The caller indicated a man and a woman were fighting near the intersection.
When officers arrived, they took two people into custody without incident. The woman was later released without charges.
Police allege the male had several outstanding Criminal Code warrants and was subsequently arrested and searched. Officers allege he was carrying a sawed-off shotgun inside a backpack.
A 21-year-old man is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Possession of Prohibited Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Careless Use/Storage of a Firearm, and Breach of Conditions.
