Three people were rescued by the Saskatoon Fire Department after responding to an apartment fire in the 100 block of Avenue U South this morning (Fri), which is now considered a suspicious fire. Emergency crews responded at 6:27 in the morning and found a small fire and heavy smoke on the upper floors of the building.

Three people were rescued off the balcony of one of the suites. One of the occupants was assessed by paramedics on scene and released. After bringing the fire under control and using fans to clear smoke from the building, firefighters handed the scene over to the Fire Investigators. Damage is estimated at $30,00 and the investigation has been turned over to police.

The Fire Department reminds everyone that when a fire alarm sounds, everyone must safely evacuate the building, because a fire alarm is a warning that the conditions inside are dangerous.
