Four people hospitalized with COVID-19 died in the two-week period from April 9th to 22nd, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Health. That’s compared to 15 in the previous two weeks. COVID-19 accounted for 64 per cent of those people in the hospital with a respiratory virus while 4 per cent were hospitalized because of RSV and 29 per cent were other viruses. Hospital admissions for respiratory viruses decreased from 261 to 215 in the latest report. However, COVID-19 ICU admissions increased from 11 to 16.
The Ministry also mentions that they will be transitioning to monthly reports for the summer, “as the prevalence of respiratory viruses in the warmer months declines,” and will return to bi-weekly reporting in the fall.
