Today (Fri) is the National Day of Mourning to recognize lives lost to workplace injuries and illnesses. A news release from the provincial government says this year, 39 fatality claims were accepted by the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board. Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister, Don Morgan says, “We need to continue to prioritize workplace health and safety so that we can achieve zero injuries, zero fatalities and zero suffering.” Flags at all City of Saskatoon facilities are also at half-mast today.
