An investigation by the Serious Assault Unit (SAU) has led to the arrest of two suspects believed to be involved in a shooting last month.

Last Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. police executed a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of Avenue S South. Two women who exited the building were unrelated to the crime but two men who came out were taken into custody. As well police seized two loaded, sawed-off shotguns, ammunition and body armour along with 15 grams of methamphetamine.

A 21-year-old man is facing eight firearms-related charges as well as an aggravated assault charge while a 26-year-old man is facing one firearms offence and one charge of aggravated assault.

At 11 a.m. on the morning of April 28th police were called to a report of a shooting in the 1500 block of 20th Street West where they found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
