The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is reporting 16 active wildfires in the province. Ten are contained, four are not contained and two are under ongoing assessment. The four uncontained fires are the Veremette, Shaw and Cinder fires in the northwest and there is also a fire southwest of Regina. (see map below)
There have been 102 wildfires so far this year, while the five-year average is 56 for this time of year. Buffalo Narrows, Peter Pond Lake and Île à la Crosse and Beauval areas are under an air quality advisory because of the smoke.
