As a result of the forensic autopsy completed Tuesday, Saskatchewan RCMP have been able to positively identify the human remains as belonging to Dominic Kahpoonapit.

Dominic was reported missing on December 13, 2022. The 20-year-old is from Big Island Lake Cree Territory and his family has been notified.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Pierceland RCMP responded around 9:40 in the evening on May 3rd after being told that human remains had been found near a home on the Big Island Lake Cree Territory.

Additional ground searches continue by Pierceland RCMP, with assistance from the North Battleford RCMP Forensic Identification Section, and the Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers (SARSAV).
