Saskatoon firefighters were called to a restaurant fire in University Heights at 12:37 a.m. on Saturday.
The fire alarm was ringing which signaled the monitoring company who called the Saskatoon Fire Department. The fire suppression system in the building, in the 1800 block of McOrmand Drive, extinguished the fire.
The Fire Investigator determined the fire was caused by unattended cooking. Fire damage is estimated at $15,000. The fire was accidental and originated in a pot on top of a burner which had been left on.
Fire officials say the automatic suppression system needs to be serviced to be returned to operating condition, and along with other deficiencies identified, the business is under closure which will be removed once the deficiencies have been addressed.
No one was hurt in the fire, the business was unoccupied at the time.
