The SaskLiberals are supporting the provincial Green Party’s stand against passing the provincial government’s Bill 123, which includes a large hike in political candidacy nomination fees for those who want to run provincially. Party leader Jeff Walters says the Bill raises the deposit from $100 to $500, which means it can become too pricey for many people to run.

He adds that it can also price out some parties from being represented in all communities. For parties to compete in all 61 constituencies, the price would increase from $6,100 to $30,500 in total. Walters adds that deposits for candidates seeking nomination federally were declared unconstitutional in a 2017 court case.
