Northern Saskatchewan residents who were affected by the power outage, due to unseasonable dry conditions and wildfire activity, from mid-afternoon on May 14 to the early morning hours of May 17, are receiving financial support from the Provincial Government.

Those residents will be eligible for up to $100 to cover the costs associated with food spoilage. The funds are a grant from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (S-P-S-A) and will be disbursed to residents by community leadership. People who own a cabin or secondary property impacted by the outages, but do not reside in an eligible community, are asked to call the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program at 1-866-632-4033 for direction.

Eligible communities for S-P-S-A funds, due to the power outage, are:

Buffalo Narrows, Garson Lake, Dillon, Buffalo River Dene Nation, Turnor Lake, Birch Narrows First Nation, La Loche, Clearwater River Dene Nation, Descharme Lake, St. George’s Hill, Michel Village, Bear Creek and Black Point.
