$2.1 billion – that’s how much Saskatchewan’s Crown Corporations have budget for capital spending in this fiscal year.

From that record investment, a news release from the Crown Investments Corporation says SaskPower is investing over $1.1 billion in new generation, transmission and distribution projects, while maintaining the infrastructure that is already there.

SaskTel’s capital spending budget is a record $412 million. Part of that will go to expanding wireless and fibre optic broadband infrastructure to grow its 5G network and infiNET service.

SaskEnergy’s plans are a record $331 million to maintain its system integrity and reliability and add new infrastructure to meet the increasing customer demand.

CIC Minister Don Morgan says the Crown sector is a key driving force behind the quality of life and the success of Saskatchewan and these investments support local economies, jobs, communities and families, and helps attract private sector investment to the province.
