You may have seen it already, a formation of six Royal Canadian Air Force tactical helicopters is transiting through western and central Canada. They left yesterday and are expected at their destination by Friday.

The formation will consist of four CH-146 Griffon helicopters and two CH-147 Chinook helicopters as they return from a major army training event, Exercise Maple Resolve, in Wainwright, Alberta. The Griffon helicopters are from 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron based in Valcartier, Quebec and the Chinook helicopters are from 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron based in Petawawa, Ontario.

People in eastern Alberta, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Sault Ste Marie, Toronto and Quebec City can expect to see the formation as it transits. The helicopters will also be making fuel and crew rest stops at smaller airfields along the way.
