One of the items in this year’s provincial budget is $24.1 million for Essential Skills programs at post-secondary institutions.
Essential Skills programming was formerly known as Adult Basic Education. It provides academic and vocational education for adult learners.
Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison says, “Investments in Essential Skills foster not only the development of a robust workforce, but it gives people the resources, tools and skills they need to succeed.” The funding will be allocated to Saskatchewan Polytechnic, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, Gabriel Dumont Institute and Lakeland College.
