Warm weather is here, and this time of the year usually means maintenance and improvements to recreational properties in the province. For many of the province’s residents that involves a cabin or a campsite on the lake.

The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency is reminding everyone to call before doing work near water as an Aquatic Habitat Protection Permit (AHPP) may be required. WSA Spokesman Patrick Boyle says the permit is needed for some projects, while others are exempt. Installing seasonal/temporary boat docks and boat lifts, or track and dolly systems – do not require a permit but boat launch repairs or maintenance as well as boathouse construction does. You also need a permit to remove vegetation from in the water or on the shoreline. To get a permit you have to go to the WSA.
