About two thirds of Saskatchewan’s north is under an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke including Candle Lake Provincial Park and Prince Albert National Park.

The latest wildfire update from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency indicates there are 20 active fires in the province with seven of them not contained. There are several fires of note in the province right now including the Aaron fire northeast of La Loche, a wildfire is burning in the community of Turnor Lake and south of Deschambault Lake. Ther Vermette fire southwest of Dillon, the Shaw fire between Buffalo Narrows and Isle La Crosse, Wistigo fire southeast of Pinehouse Lake and the Sharp fire north of La Ronge.

There is a weather advisory in effect for Kindersley, Rosetown, Biggar, Wilkie, Macklin, Battlefords, Unity, Maidstone and St. Walburg regions with conditions favourable for the development of funnel clouds today.

These types of funnel clouds are generated under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms and there is a chance that it could become a weak landspout tornado. Environment Canada says landspout tornadoes do not usually cause significant damage but can still be dangerous. They can be strong enough to topple trees, damage roofs or toss debris short distances. As well these funnel clouds usually appear with little for no warning.

A severe thunderstorm warning is also in effect for Assinibioia, Gravelbourg and Coronach.
