Earlier this week, the Saskatoon Police Service reported seizing 58,000 unstamped cigarettes after a traffic stop, and now says the VICE Unit has made another substantial seizure after continued investigation from last Sunday’s arrest of a 31-year-old man.

A news release from the Police Service says there was a traffic stop on Tuesday in the 1900 block of Kenderdine Road related to the investigation of trafficking illegal tobacco products. Police say a man was arrested and illegal tobacco products and articles consistent with trafficking were seized from the vehicle. Then, a search warrant was executed in the 200 block of Epp Place, where officers report seizing over 500,000 illegal cigarettes, almost $25,000 in cash, a 2010 Lexus RX350 and a 2010 Jeep Patriot. The next day, a warrant was executed by the VICE Unit at a home in the 100 block of Fairbrother Court where it’s alleged another approximated 450,000 cigarettes were seized.

A 59-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with trafficking in tobacco and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
