This Saturday, June 17th, is the 100th anniversary of the original dedication of the Next-of-Kin Memorial Avenue in Woodlawn Cemetery, and to commemorate that, there will be a celebration on Sunday. The City of Saskatoon says there were about 8,000 people at the opening of the Next-of-Kin Memorial Avenue 100 years ago, to honour those who lost their lives in the Great War of 1914-1918.

Immediately following the commemoration will be the annual Citizens’ Decoration Day Service, with ceremonies to follow at the Soldiers’ Memorial Cairn
Decoration Day gives the public an opportunity to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the service of our country. The events run from 1 to 3 on Sunday afternoon, and it is open to the public.
