Prairie Diagnostic Services in Saskatchewan is receiving $18 million in funding from the federal and provincial governments over the next five years for the laboratory’s work in disease diagnosis, surveillance, research and supporting animal health and welfare. Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Marie-Claude Bibeau, says, “Understanding and containing disease outbreaks is key to safeguarding producers’ animals and maintaining the international reputation of the agricultural industry.”

Prairie Diagnostic Services is a veterinary diagnostic lab. The not-for-profit organization provides diagnostic services for animals, primarily on livestock, poultry, wildlife and companion animals. The funding comes from the Sustainable Agricultural Partnership between the federal, provincial and territorial governments.
