A 24 year old man has been arrested who is a suspect in this morning’s (Wed) homicide. Earlier this afternoon, a news release from the Saskatoon Police Service had asked for the public’s help to find a man who is a suspect and had released security video from a park in the 200 block of Avenue S South. Police believe the man and the 35-year-old man who was shot this morning knew each other. The suspect was arrested without incident in the 300 block of Idylwyld Drive around 3:30 this afternoon.

Saskatoon Police responded to the 200 block of Avenue S South shortly after 7 this morning. The 35-year-old was found outside. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Saskatoon Police reported that a home in the 200 block of Avenue W South was identified to be of interest and two people were seen leaving from there in a truck. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it was being driven erratically and at dangerous speeds. It was tracked leaving the city heading north on Highway 11. Two people were seen getting out of the vehicle and fleeing on foot near Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation. A male and female were taken into custody.

Saskatchewan RCMP had issued a Dangerous Persons Alert this morning (Wed) for the Cree Nation and surrounding area, which has since been cancelled. Fifteen other individuals have been taken into custody from inside the home on Avenue W South. The investigation is ongoing.

This morning, while this was happening, the decision was made to cancel classes at Pleasant Hill School and there were traffic restrictions in place, with the public asked to avoid the area.
