The Federation of Saskatchewan Indigenous Nation wants the RCMP to investigate a June 4th incident in Duck Lake.
An FSIN news release describes a neighborhood dispute involving indigenous and non-indigenous residents. It alleges a larger group of men entered the victims’ private yard and assaulted the people there. The FSIN says four people suffered multiple bruises and one had a punctured lung.
Local RCMP did charge one person last week, but the FSIN says a 10 to 15 minute response time gave most of the men time to leave the neighbor’s home. FSIN Vice Chief Dutch Lerat is asking RCMP Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore to personally review the matter.
