Two of the wildfires in Saskatchewan that have been burning for weeks with a status of not contained, have been brought under control, that being the Shaw fire between Buffalow Narrows and Isle-a-la-Crosse, and the Vermette fire southwest of Dillon.

Wistigo, Sharp, Kenney and Wapa fires, burning north, south, east and west of Lac La Ronge are considered, among the 31 wildfires in the province, as not contained. Consequently there is a special weather statement in effect due to wildfire smoke for La Ronge, Prince Albert National Park, Narrow Hills Provincial Park, Pelican Narrows, Cumberland House, and Creighton.

There have been 247 wildfires so far this year and 182 is the five-year average.
