Wednesday’s two-vehicle collision on Highway 16, west of Plunkett, has claimed the life of one person and left another in hospital.
A 40-year-old man from Yorkton was declared deceased at the scene by E-M-S. His family has been notified. He was the driver and sole occupant of a five-ton truck that was traveling west on the Yellowhead when it collided with a cargo van with two occupants. The driver of the cargo van is still in hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries while the passenger has been released from hospital. Highway 16 was blocked during the initial investigation for about seven hours, with traffic resuming around 7 p.m. Wednesday night. Saskatoon R-C-M-P continues to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan R-C-M-P collision reconstructionist and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
