Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources has announced a $50 million contribution to a wind power project from the Cowessess First Nation and Innagreen Investments.
It’s located south of Kipling, which is about 150 kilometres east of Regina. A federal government news release says the project will supply over 200 megawatts of power, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by about 130,000 tonnes a year, which is enough to serve up to 100,000 homes annually. The project will have six turbines. This is not the first federal funding for a clean energy project of the Cowessess First Nation.
Previously $18.5 million was awarded for a solar facility which is currently providing clean power to the provincial grid.
