A fourteen-year-old Regina boy is facing charges after waving a machete at the Wascana Park Canada Day Celebration on Saturday.
At 10:40pm, Regina Police Service Public Safety Unit members were advised of a possible fight in the park. They say they observed a boy swinging around a machete, and when they approached him, he fled into a crowd of people.
Regina Police say the teen would not obey commands to drop the weapon, so a conducted energy weapon was used to take him into into custody.
The boy is facing three charges including assault with a weapon, and will make his first court appearance on Thursday, August 17th.
Charges include:
– Assault with a Weapon
– Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
– Carry a Concealed Weapon
