With the Canada Day Long Weekend in full swing, SGI is reminding drivers to be safe and never drive impaired.
SGI spokesperson Tyler McMurchy says there were 476 impaired driving offences in May. All impaired driving offences result in licence suspensions, vehicle impoundments, mandatory driver education and Safe Driver Recognition demerits.  McMurchy says whether it’s alcohol or cannabis, you should err on the side of caution when trying to figure out if you are over the limit. In fact, when it comes to cannabis, if any is detected, there will be consequences.
SGI’s message is to have a plan for a safe and sober ride home from whatever celebrations you attend this weekend.
